Growing PAL’s R&D - Artists commissioned

We’re delighted to have poet Jacob Sam-La Rose, theatre director Ola Animashawun and arts practitioner Roanne Dods working with us on the research and development of three new programmes of work. By opening up the early developmental phase of our programming to artists and arts practitioners, we aim to increase our capacity to respond to artists’ current concerns.

Jacob accepted our invitation to delve a little more deeply into his question about tradition and ritual today that he brought to our Art of Enquiry Day in June 2009, to see if it could become the basis for a Lab programme. Ola is helping us to develop a brand new theatre writing programme called ‘Street Labs’. Roanne has been working closely with Susan Benn for some time on the next stage of PAL’s Artist as Leader programme, which comprises four Labs on themes raised by artists at our Art of Enquiry and by partner organisations: Money, Environment, Embodied Movement and Measuring.
