Lab Film ‘The Infidel’ Released

Developed at the 2008 PAL Script Development Lab for production company Slingshot, The Infidel, written by David Baddiel, directed by Josh Appignanesi and starring Omid Djalilli premiered this month, drawing considerable media attention.  Jasmin Alibhai Brown of The Independent described it as “Funny, profound and extraordinary”. Tom Huddleston wrote in Time Out, “David Baddiel’s script is sharp, wise and very funny, and never flinches from exposing the hypocrisy and power games that fuel religious intolerance.”

On Friday 9th April Revolver released The Infidel.  which was produced by Slingshot and Met Film.

The Infidel is a comedy about an East End Muslim man played by Omid Djalili, who discovers that he’s adopted - and Jewish. Jonathan Ross says the film is hilarious and heart-warming;  Jonathan Freedland in The Guardian says it is “clever, brave and funny”; Ricky Gervais says of it:” A lovely chalk and cheese buddy movie…English farce meets Woody Allen….Omid is a joy”; and Andrew Johnson in The Independent says it takes “an intelligent swipe at the idiocies of fundamentalism and pokes fun at religion and race in a way that is refreshing and long overdue”.
