October 2008 | Big Draw Legacy Lab
Exploring creative possibilities between the practice of artists and scientists, curators and managers and those concerned with public engagement in museums and galleries.
This 3-day residential Lab was the result of interest from the people involved in the design and delivery of The Big Draw 2008 launch, ‘Drawing on Life’’.
The Wellcome Collection, UCL Museums and Collections, The Slade School of Art and PAL had not worked together before the Big Draw launch, neither with each other nor with the co-curators of the event The Campaign for Drawing and The Bows Arts Trust. Getting 6,500 people of all ages to take part in 40 free activities exploring creativity in science, art and life depended on the combined energy, enthusiasm and generosity of many people. This Lab looked at The Big Draw 2008 as a case study within a wider exploration building scenarios to take forward as the legacy of the event.
