April 2008 | STEM Fluency Lab
for the Nuffield Curriculum Centre
This Lab for teachers, artists, scientists and curriculum developers kickstarted the creative thinking for the NCC’s new Key Stage 3 STEM Project.
Five days were spent exploring the connections between science, technology, engineering and maths subject areas and developing prototype resources and approaches to encourage cross-curriculum, pupil-centred learning.
“The PAL Lab gave our writers the confidence and respect to feel comfortable with their own creativity. The challenge is to be yourself in full volume and brightness. Given free rein our young teachers followed the twists and turns of their imagination. This process generated enough ideas, concepts and paradigms to keep us going for another couple of years.”
Cris Edgell, Nuffield Curriculum Centre STEM Project Director
This was also the first of PAL’s Labs of Learning in the STEM curriculum.
