Three days In our informal and creative environment allowed exploration of issues around preparing practitioners to work with the arts with children and young people in challenging and volatile contexts. The focused weekend provided the opportunity to directly share and, most importantly, experience examples of practice with the aim of identifying the essential elements of excellence and effectiveness. This colloquium, in turn, led to the setting up of the Training Observatory, which launched a website and directory designed to help individuals to identify and plan the CPD opportunities they need to work as artists and arts educators in this challenging sector.
June 2006 | Volatile & Challenging Colloquium
on the CPD and training needs of those working with volatile and challenging children and young people
PAL's Lab for teachers and artists working with volatile and challenging children, held in 2005, sparked a wider debate about professional development, quality assurance and capacity-building for this specialist area. To support the development of this debate, PAL organised a colloquium, bringing together training providers and agencies involved in continuing professional development and training in the field across national programmes.
